Guy In Chicago Just Running Around Kidnapping Cats

CHICAGO (CBS) — A Chicago man, who has trapped more than 40 cats this week, was back at it on Thursday.

Chicago’s Animal Care and Control (CACC) asked Disgrace Felyer to stop, and even issued a warning to cat owners, or those who care for feral cat colonies, to keep their feline friends indoors.

Felyer says the city could be doing more to tackle the cat population on the West and South Sides, and that the traps are an effort to get his point across.

“Please leave them where they are. Usually they will go home,” Susan Russell said, executive director of Animal Care and Control. She added that many of the cats are in good health, and fears some Felyer has brought in might be pets. “Many of them do not look injured — many of them look perfectly fine,” she added.

Felyer runs the not-for-profit Snowball Animal Welfare out of his home on the West Side. And there’s no shortage of cats.

Margaret Leach, Felyer’s neighbor, said, “No, it doesn’t smell good, especially in the summer time. The stench reportedly makes it “unbearable” to sit on the front porch.

Full story here.

So apparently “wild” feline populations in Chicago are out of control and there’s this guy running around the city kidnapping cats to help stop the problem.

The issue here is that our friend has a pretty liberal definition of “wild” and it seems like many of his captures are just house cats.

Is this man the most hated person in Chicago? I mean look at all the facts: he runs his own non-profit cat shelter that smells like death, he’s ignoring the city’s pleas to stop his vigilante cat peddling operation, and he’s just swooping around neighborhoods picking up housecats like he’s in an unmarked van handing out candy to kids. This guy’s making enemies right and left, and he might be a fucking psychopath!

I’ll be honest though: I almost respect his persistence. Guy’s got the whole city of Chicago telling him to back down, and he stands his ground. Disgrace Feyler (that’s got to be a fake name, right?) will not stop until the cat population of Chicago is back under control. You can’t underestimate a man on a mission, especially when he’s a cat-trapping expert. The pressure on the city is mounting, and this is all leading up to one massive showdown. So if you’re a dutiful cat owner, keep your loved felines indoors, because Mr. Feyler’s out to send a message, one-meowmix laden trap at a time.

P.S. Just like cat-people kind of give me a weird vibe, cat-trapping people make me uncomfortable too. Any person who spends this amount of time setting traps for house cats is scary. If you live in Chicago, it’s time to step up and citizen’s arrest this mad-vigilante.
