You See A Guy "Giving Away His House For Free", I See A Guy Loaning His Haunted House Out For Free House Sitting

LEWIS TOWNSHIP -- Christmas came a little early for JJ Lyons and his family. Last week, Lyons was hunting with family when the Williamsport firefighter got the call that his house near Turbotville was on fire. The fire left the 10-year veteran of the fire department, his wife Jessica, and his 5-year-old daughter Jilline with few options, especially right before the holidays. “We had no idea what we were going to do or where we were going to go. We didn't know we would be OK,” said Lyons. That’s where Joe Miller, a total stranger, comes in. His mother passed away earlier this year, and he looking to sell her 1,500-square-foot house.Miller decided to give it to the Lyons family until they can get back on their feet.

Along with the house, comes Angel the cat. He had been living in the house and now hopes to bring joy to the new family.

Fellow firefighters from the Williamsport Bureau of Fire came to help clean out the house, telling Newswatch 16 it was nothing to help out a brother.

Look this is SUPER NICE, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This guy isn’t donating his house, he’s loaning it. Are we really supposed to fucking crown him for this? Dude, thank you. This is great. You really stepped up when somebody needed you, but come on let’s be reasonable! You’ve basically got someone house sitting for you for free! You don’t need to pay them, you look like a hero, and you make you sure your mom’s house doesn’t look fucking haunted when you eventually try to sell it. You’re, in effect, reorienting your house for family living. Nobody wants to move into a house that clearly was last lived in by a dead person, you're asking for bad juju (exception being people whose houses have burned down).

Again, I’m not taking away from the fact that this is a nice thing. But I am taking away from how nice of a thing it is. It’s a great thing, but it’s not like a saintly thing. This guy’s not signing the house over. He’s effectively offering shelter, and guaranteeing that this house sells in the Spring. AND THAT’S NOT ALL; you’ve included Angel the cat in the deal. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s looking for Angel to get adopted. You know why? Because Angel’s still living in his dead mom’s house, that’s why.

NOT ONLY THAT but we’ve got the fire department coming in and renovating the house. They’re doing all the work for this guy! He’s saving a pretty penny! Let’s rehash, you get to look good, you get to help somebody (everybody likes that), you probably get rid of Angel the cat, and you get your mom’s house renovated and ready to sell for free! So again, this is a great situation for both parties, but I’m not ready to ship you the Nobel Peace Prize just yet, buddy. I see right through you.
