Ron Baker Got Murdered By Anthony Davis

This was a murder. There’s no other way to look at it. Ron Baker, 24-year-old blue collar point guard of the Knicks, was butchered by Anthony Davis in front of a sold-out crowd. It will only be a matter of time before this video gets taken down, and the only place to find it will be in the back pages of the deep internet/WorldStar.

I don’t know how or why Ron Baker got it into his head to try and block an Anthony Davis dunk, but I respect the hell out of it. As an ‘okay’ high school basketball player who went to one or two basketball camps (one) I can tell you,  I got dunked on a lot. As a 6'7" player at these camps I was expected to be the dunker not the dunked on, but I was a fucking enigma. I got dunked on so much that even the coaches started telling me to play less defense. White dudes, black dudes, tall dudes, small dudes, smaller dudes, everybody dunked on me. It was a like a fucking birthday cake, everybody who wanted a piece got a piece. I got an infection in my toe (probably from getting dunked on) and I could barely walk. The camp doctors kept on threatening to send me home, but I insisted on stumbling down the court to get dunked on time and time again until the bitter end.

If you’ve never been dunked on before, I’d recommend you never try it. But even so, even with as terrible as every 'getting dunked on' moment is, this is different. Ron Baker got dunked on so hard that he broke his eye bone. Ron Baker got dunked on so hard that Kyle O’Quinn legitimately looked like he saw someone die.

Ron Baker got dunked on so hard that in photos it looks like he’s leaping from the depths of oblivion to block Davis’ shot/take a bullet for his bench, when really it’s into the depths of oblivion that he’s heading.

So young, so promising, so brave, we’ll miss you Ron Baker.
