Guy In Trouble For Abandoning Kids After Crash: Seems Like The Kids Should Have Seen This Coming
PLANT CITY, Florida — Deputies arrested a man they say left 3 young children on the side of a busy road on Christmas night. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old James Williams was in a crash along Turkey Creek Road in Plant City, fled the scene on foot, leaving the children in a state of “panic.”
Family members say the children are 7, 10 and 11 years old. They say Williams is the great-uncle of the children. The entire family had just finished celebrating Christmas in Tampa, with many of the cars packed with toys. Some of the kids got into Williams’ car to drive back to Plant City.
On top of leaving the children, witnesses and family members say he had the children help him evade deputies by having them assist in hoisting him over a wall surrounding a neighborhood.

I had a VERY different idea of what this story was going to be before I read it. I thought this was going to be a sad one, like a dad leaving his kids at a traffic light or some depressing shit like that. But no, this was just a classic great uncle getting in a car crash and using his young passengers to flee the scene. This is hilarious. Maybe Great Uncle William has a few too many at dinner and suddenly he’s in a minor car wreck with three kids and a potential DUI. What’s the first thing that crosses our antihero’s mind? Obviously to use the kids to get boosted over a wall and take off running.
In all seriousness, these kids got absolutely fooled. Like these aren’t babies! 11, 8, and 7? At least one of those kids should have enough situational awareness to know that you can’t really trust Great Uncle Willie, especially after Christmas dinner. You’ve got to be able to recognize when you’re going to be double crossed, and one of these little suckers should have figured out right away that Jack wasn’t opposed to leaving a man, or a small child, behind.
Great Uncle Bill is screwed by the way. I mean the family won't even bail him out of jail! They are PISSED. Not a great look to take your relatives children and use them to escape the authorities. This isn’t the type of thing you just get over by next Christmas. But hey, our friend here must have known this was gonna burn a bridge or two. So we'll see if Great Uncle Will ever gets invited back to Xmas dinner. You know him: super nice guy sober, reckless criminal with no morals when drunk. Although I will say again, that while this was surely not a great move on William's part, these parent's have gotta teach their kids to keep their heads on a swivel! They got absolutely ham-rolled! Buncha idiots got played!
