People In Japan Love Eating Poisonous Blowfish: Can't Be Upset When They Get Poisoned
(CNN) A Japanese city issued an emergency alert to residents Monday after two people ate potentially dangerous portions of fugu fish that should not have been sold.
Five packs of Yorito fugu (blunt head blowfish) were sold at a supermarket located in Gamagori city, in the central Aichi prefecture, by a licensed employee who had not removed the livers, according to Hiroko Mizuno, an official from the district's Life and Hygiene Department.
The fish, also referred to as puffer fish, contains a toxin hundreds of times more poisonous than cyanide; its liver alone can contain enough poison to kill five men. Japan has laws in place to ensure it is prepared and detoxified properly before it is sold.
The two people who consumed the fish have not reported any health problems as this time. However, Gamagori city activated an emergency warning to its citizens alerting them through all wireless systems, including community loud speakers, against eating the fugu and recalling the product.

Japan’s made a bit of a name for itself off of eating insane food. Most insane of all is the blowfish that, if prepared incorrectly, will kill you (apparently five times). Recently a bunch of these blowfish were found to have been prepared incorrectly, and well now Japan is freaking the fuck out. They’re literally shouting “do not eat blowfish” from air sirens for fuck’s sake. Let me just say, if you enjoy eating blowfish that are super poisonous, then you will probably die. Not only will you probably die, but you can’t be mad about it at all.
If you eat something poisonous, you will get poisoned. You really think that everybody who prepares fugu is a fucking pro? No way, this is the service industry for the love of god. Most of these people probably learned how to carve up fugu on Youtube, and don’t even have a food license. That’s the way it is in every other place, so why not in Japan? Also, fuga is the leading cause of food poisoning in Japan. Do you know why? BECAUSE IT’S POISONOUS. WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL EATING THIS THING? Japan, jesus christ, please get it together. If you want to kill yourselves by indulging in blowfish liver, go ahead. But keep it out of my newsfeed.
