Usain Bolt Wants To Play Professional Soccer And Seems To Have Reasonable Expectations
Eight-time Olympic gold-medal winner Usain Bolt has said he's held talks with Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson regarding a move to the club.
Some might recommend Bolt lower his expectations before he attempts to find his way to the top, but he went on to comment on his friendship with Paul Pogba and why he's not interested in starting out small:
"Me and Pogba talk a lot. I watch and ask him a lot of questions. I want to play but it has to be in the top league. I'm not content to be average.
"It's going to be hard because my career has been so great, but if I could win a Champions League or something, it'll be close to anything I achieved in athletics.
"But I have to be more than average. It has to be in the top league because we have a lot of teams that have offered us deals, just random clubs. I want to be the best."

I would LOVE to see Usain Bolt tearing down the sidelines scoring goals with his feet. The dude is lightning fast, and it’s unreasonable to expect that people wouldn’t speculate on whether he would do something like this. This is what you do when you have a really, really fast guy. You think, “I wonder what he would do if he played an actual sport?” When it comes down to it, if he doesn’t want to hang up the sporting shoes for good then why not? I hope he’ll be good, but I don’t think he’ll be good. I don’t know! I hope he proves me wrong, but in all seriousness it takes a lot more to be a good soccer player/great player in any sport than speed. But also, speed really helps.
My favorite part about this is the fact that Bolt clearly just wants to be good or not, nothing in between. Only wants to be on the team if it’s the best team. Only wants to win a championship if it’s in the championship league. Develop into a better soccer player? Not interested. He either wants to be good or he won’t be a soccer player. I guess I respect this? This is a guy who knows what he brings to the table. He’s not interested in “practicing” on the B team. You either put him in the game with the 1’s or he’ll be sipping daiquiris on the beach. This guy’s legacy is already intact, no further work required. I love that. He’s already done an insane amount of work to get where he is. You think Usain's going to grind to try and squeak by on a team of scrubs? Fuck no! If he's good at soccer, great! If not, daiquiris!
