It’s Wednesday, hump day, and it’s looking pretty bleak in New York: nobody would blame you if you just went home sick and put your head underneath the covers. But not you, no you’re sticking it out. Everything in this video is perfect: the terrible lighting, the corgi looking back at the camera, that fat pony jiggling off into the darkness, the corgi looking back at the camera again. It is perfect. It’s also a perfect example of the secret lives all of our pets live. Anybody who thinks that your animals just sit on the couch waiting for you to come home is living under a cement block of denial. That being said, running off and riding the neighbor’s pony is a more drastic event than any of us expected. I thought that they maybe were rummaging through the cabinets, jumping on the bed, eating oranges, wearing my clothes around, stuff like that- I wasn’t expecting midnight trail rides with the Cricket “the one-eyed wonder pony”.
Just goes to show that we know nothing when it comes to our pets, absolutely nothing. All of the scientists who are currently trying to teach whales to talk, etc, here’s an idea: instead of doing that, how about you wire every inch of your house with cameras and tell us what your cats do all day? That’s the science we need. Speaking of which, I feel like 99% of the time we talk “secret life of pets” we’re talking about cats, so I just want to throw a shout-out to the Corgi who won’t let society or domesticity put him in a box.
