Things I Learned Last Week: Roger Stone Really Did Not Like Barbara Bush
Roger Stone, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, responded to the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush by calling her a "nasty drunk" in an Instagram post.

So my family was in town last week and this blog suffered because of it. I put my hand up for that, but it's tough to play the "Sorry Dad I'm a blogger" card when your folks are busy taking the wrong train in the opposite direction because you're ignoring their texts in order to crank out 500 words on the merits of not giving birth in public. Needless to say this story about Barbara Bush was at the top of my "get this blog out as soon as those that birthed you leave" list.
This is just mean! Like, I know we're talking about Roger Stone here, not necessarily the front runner for "Nice Guy of the Year," this is impressively terrible, even for him. There's a minimum amount of time you have to wait after someone dies before you start trashing them. I'd call it a month. Some would probably call for more. It's definitely more than four hours. I don't know man you've just got to be better! What did Barbara Bush say to you?
"She said far worse things about me.”
That's it?! She said mean things? Bro get over it! You're involved in politics! People are going to say not nice things to you all the time. You’ve got to have some thick skin, because by virtue of the business someone is always going to think that you’re a fucking idiot. You’ve got to let bygones be bygones here at least for a short period of time. I mean, when it comes down to it, she’s dead and you’re not- so you kind of won in some way, Roger, you asshole. At least feign some fucking sympathy and be nice about it.
I mean, hey, maybe we should take some of these insults with a grain of salt. Were they really that bad?

Jesus christ that’s a terrible thing to say. I’d be hard pressed to find a meaner insult off the top of my head. Fuckin’ A Roger you really went for the throat on this old dead woman, huh. Pulled out the big guns for this one, a classic cremation insult!
Well maybe he wrapped it up in a nice way. Please, Roger, wrap it up in a nice way.

Wow not great. That's kind of like saying, “with all due respect,” and then proceeding to insult the shit out of someone: “[insult A], [insult B], and [insult C], Rest In Peace” doesn’t work AT ALL. Maybe she would rest in peace, Roger, but she’s having trouble resting with you curb stomping her dead body. Do you think somebody sent a joke email to Roger Stone being like, “Hey Rog, we thought it’d be funny if instead of saying nice things about Barbara Bush we’d just roast the shit out of her now that she can’t defend herself and is dead (what a sucker right?)- sincerely anonymous” and he bought it?
I don’t think that’s what happened but if I was Roger Stone I’d spend a lot of time trying to convince people that it did.
