Turns Out The Best Way To Escape The Police Is: Just Go Fast?
All too often, high speed crashes occur when police decide to pursue a speeding vehicle. In Colorado, the Colorado State Police’s decision to end a chase of a speed, older Ford Mustang was more about safety than the Mustang outrunning the police.
“They tried to catch up. They weren’t doing it,” Colorado State Police spokesman Gary Cooper told the Denver Post. “They couldn’t get close enough.” Troopers were even unable read the car’s license plate.
The chase took place early Friday about 170 miles west of Denver. The driver of an older, unidentifiable dark-colored Mustang, was clocked going 140 miles per hour on Interstate 70. When troopers tried to pursue the car, the Mustang’s driver sped up to 150 mph.

Well here I was thinking that we were past the days where you could get away from police. You know, long past are the times where you could hope that the sheriff’s horse died, or he didn’t have a map, or he got bit by a rattlesnake, or broke his ankle and died from exposure. Those were good times for criminals. Even in the early twentieth century cars were still running out of batteries, went a roaring 20mph, and broke down if you had the turn signal and the windshield wipers on at the same time. Those were also good days to be a criminal.
I’d say it became very, very difficult to be a criminal as soon as helicopters came into play. Seriously, we all know that at 3 stars in GTA things get a lot harder. You’ve either got to decide to go out guns blazing there and then, or you jump on the train and hide in the tunnel. That’s legitimately the only way to get away from the cops. No longer, my friends. Turns out that if you want to get away from the cops, you just have to drive super fast: over 150MPH to be exact. It turns out the that simplest solution was the right solution, and it was under our noses the whole time. Here we were thinking that cops were too smart, too fast, too many, and had too much technology for us to get away, when really we just weren’t driving fast enough. Crazy.
Also these police officers just deciding to call it quits on a high speed chase is BONKERS to me. Are you telling me that you went to the police academy, make no money, and fill out paperwork all day, all to finally get in a high speed car chase and back out? Guys, guys, guys, you’ve been waiting for this your whole career. You didn't become a cop to go the speed limit. We're all done pretending you did. At that point, fuck everybody’s safety. You’ve just got to get your rocks off. It’s time to buckle up and burn some rubber.
