Hello.

I went to college to learn how to spell and it's not going great for me.

New Hampshire Crew That Dropped A Giant Dead Whale On The Ground Had One Job: Principally Not To Put Dead Whale In Dumpster.

New video footage shows crews in New Hampshire attempting to – and failing to – successfully drop a whale carcass inside a dumpster by using a front loader.

According to the TODAY Show, the mammal weighing 4,000 pounds is a minke whale that was found washed ashore in Jenness Beach in Rye, New Hampshire.

In the video, the dead whale body can be seen bouncing off the rim of the large dumpster and falling to the pavement, as onlookers nearby can be heard gasping at the scene.

Full story here.

Look, you can’t trust New Hampshire folks with ocean life. I’ll just say it. I’m sure there are some New Hampshire people out there who aren’t thrilled to hear that, but it’s just the way it is. I say this as an ‘almost’ New Hampshire person.

There are things we excel at: anti-government license plates, naming mountains after presidents, acting like we all live in Boston, playing hockey, pairing socks with boat shoes- to name a few. We don’t do whales well. Never have. Never will. Oceans aren’t our thing and there’s no use pretending otherwise. New Hampshire handles the hockey, minimal taxation, and confusing politics of New England, Vermont gets the syrup and the good press, Massachusetts gets the Patriots and Good Will Hunting, Connecticut gets pastels and Yale, and Maine gets Canada and whales. That’s how the things are divvied up, and they should stay that way.

New Hampshire has the equivalent of three small towns that border the ocean. We’ll just go ahead and call that one town that borders the ocean. Case in point: this is not how you handle a dead whale. That thing stays on the beach. That thing stays on the ground. Who the fuck tries to drop a FUCKING DEAD WHALE IN A DUMPSTER? Jesus christ- this looks like a fucking kid trying to tie his shoes with mittens on- how was this ever going to work. Just put a goddamn tarp on that thing and leave it until the professionals arrive. The plan was to put the carcass in a dumpster so it couldn’t run away, then transfer it to a bigger dumpster when one arrived. That’s way too many steps for a state, and dare I say, population whose greatest exposures to oceanic organisms are the Boston aquarium and the local sushi place that makes you shit yourself.
