People Are Defending Roy Moore In Some Pretty Fucking Weird Ways
Washington (CNN)- Senate Republicans face a dire reality in Alabama following sexual misconduct accusations about Roy Moore, their Senate nominee in Alabama: They want Moore gone from the race but are largely powerless to make that happen. In the immediate aftermath of the Washington Post's bombshell report that Moore had pursued relationships with four girls between the ages of 14 and 18 when he was in his early 30s, a slew of Republican senators came out with statements making clear that if the allegations were true, Moore needed to step out of the race.
"I think if he does what he should do, does the right thing and steps aside, I don't think it will hurt the Republican Party," said South Dakota Sen. John Thune, a member of the GOP leadership team, on Thursday afternoon.

What a week it’s been. Recent allegations have risen against Roy Moore, who’s the Republican Senate nominee in Alabama, saying that he had made romantic advances towards four girls aged eighteen and under.
Also, while the Republicans want Moore to back out- it seems that Moore is intent to go down fighting. And while he has furiously denied allegations, in this blog we'll focus on some others who have stepped in to defend him using some interesting methods.
His brother, Jerry Moore, had a unique response to the allegations, ""When I asked what does he believe the motivation is with these women coming forward making the accusations they have, again, Jerry Moore says it's money and the Democratic Party, implying that they are doing this because they're being paid in some way, and it is for the purpose of derailing or interrupting this campaign," Savidge said.Moore went so far as to say "that his brother is being persecuted, in his own words, like Jesus Christ was," according to Savidge. "Very defiant and very outspoken, relying on his faith and defending his brother to the hilt.""
Mmmmmmmmmm, I think that was a little bit different bud. I don’t know. I could be wrong; but as I remember it, one guy was accused of falsely claiming to be the son of God, and the other guy is accused of being very creepy and touchy with some very young girls. Those are very different scenarios. And oh boy, if this is all a set up by liberals to sabotage Moore, I’ll eat my hat; but brother, that still won’t make those two persecutions equal.
Next we have state auditor Jim Ziegler, who brought up another interesting argument, “"Take the Bible. Zachariah and Elizabeth for instance. Zachariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist. Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus. There's just nothing immoral or illegal here. Maybe just a little bit unusual.""
Oh boy, Jim. Ohhhh boy. Where to begin? Oh, I know! That’s a fucking creepy story! Also, pretty sure in biblical times kids got married when they were like twelve years old, the life expectancy was 21, and people were crucified fairly regularly, so things were a little bit different back then. I mean, I think it’s ridiculous to base any law off of scripture but basing the foundations of a healthy relationship off of it is even more nuts. I can tell you, without a fucking doubt, that if I ever have a teenage daughter I won’t want her to hang out alone with an adult carpenter, that's an easy one. This is the worst political spin of all political spins. In fact, this should be example numero uno in terms of when to keep your mouth shut. I won’t give Roy Moore any advice, because I’m not particularly fond of him at this moment, but I would highly recommend paying Jim and Jerry Moore to keep their fucking mouths shut.
