39 Year Old Bus Driver Playing College Hoops In Canada
Read the Bleacher Report Article here.
This is an awesome story, and I hate that I inevitably have to be the naysayer here, but are there no rules in Canada? What loophole is allowing this guy to play on a college team? This is awesome but you can’t just have a grown ass old guy having a heart attack on the floor surrounded by 18-year-olds. What about eligibility? What about classes? Is this college just holding open tryouts? Is this guy the next Vince Papali? I need more details!
[Editor's note, I now know he's taking online classes but I said what I said and I won't take it back, you cowards]
I guess that’s not this guy’s problem though, and so good for him! Dude’s like fifty and he’s living his dream, and that’s pretty awesome. He may be setting his program up for historical sanctions, but he’s killing it in the mean time. All of the haters who are watching the above footage and equating the practices to a lazy Saturday pickup game, yeah alright I saw that too. But there’s something different about playing for a school, for a program, for a team, that can’t be replicated in most cases. Regardless of the quality of play or the numerous rules that this old guy is breaking by playing on a college squad, it’s a cool story nonetheless, and I think anybody who played organized ball at any time in their life would be grateful for an opportunity like this.
