Name A Food More Embarrassing To Choke On Than A Chip: You Can't

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) --- A Marion County Deputy who was investigating a hit-and-run crash came to the aide of a deli employee as she choked on a potato chip. 

"He's my hero," Angelica Sandoval said. "He was there at the right place at the right time." 

Deputy Gregg Ramseyer was at DeDe's Deli in Salem on December 21 looking to view surveillance footage the deli may have captured after a hit-and-run crash nearby.

I can’t, for the life of me, think of anything more embarrassing to choke on than a fucking potato chip. One bite and you’re good. They dissolve in water. It seems like a chip should be the last thing you should choke on. Steak, now that’s something you can choke on. You can chew steak for days and still choke on it. I think every time I eat steak, there’s one moment where I think I’m on my way out. Chips, give me a break: you can break a fucking chip with your throat muscles.  

I’ve also blogged about Heimlich maneuvers gone wrong, and given, if you’re breaking somebody’s ribs and not successfully un-choking them, you’re probably not doing it right. That being said, NOBODY looks good while choking. This video is evidence of that. It’s a tough look, chip or not. You eat a chip and start choking on it, your reputation is dead already, so you may as well just refuse help and go out flailing.

Marion County Deputy Gregg Ramseyer just happened to be on his way to DeDe's Deli for information on a hit and run. A Marion County deputy who just so happened to be on his way to DeDe's Deli in Salem entered the establishment just in time to rescue a choking woman.
