Lion Whisperer Takes His Lion For A Walk: It Escapes: Eats Someone

(CNN) A young woman was mauled to death Tuesday by a lion during a visit to a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa run by Kevin Richardson, the so-called "lion whisperer."

The 22-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was visiting a camp at the popular Dinokeng Game Reserve, near Pretoria, when she was attacked close to her vehicle.

"Myself and an experienced colleague took three lions walking in the reserve, as we do on a weekly basis, as part of their exercise and stimulation regiment," said Richardson in his statement.

"One of the lionesses charged off after an impala and must have run 2 to 2.5 kilometers (1.2 to 1.5 miles), where she encountered the 22-year-old outside the car."

I’m doing some serious questioning of this guy’s brand. Lion whisperer? I don’t know man seems like this lion pretty much ignored you on all counts.  You can’t claim to be a lion whisperer and then have your lion run off after an impala and end up eating someone. You don’t get to be considered a dog whisperer if your canine runs after squirrels mauling babies. That’s a stain on your record for sure. I don’t think your lion whisperer brand remains intact after this one.

You’re allowed to get eaten as a lion whisperer, in fact that’s almost expected. That’s the inevitable fate of treating a dangerous animal like it’s your pet, you die at its hands. You treat that bear like a dog and it’s gonna eat your face. That’s fine. More power to you for killing yourself in a way that warrants a nature-documentary. Just don’t put that burden on someone else. You’re not even allowed to have someone else’s blood on your hands. You have to be removed completely from the lion whisperer conversation. You’re out buddy.
