6th Grader Suspended For Unknowingly Eating A Pot Cookie: My God Hasn't She Suffered Enough
A sixth grader who was hospitalized for unknowingly eating a baked good laced with marijuana has been suspended from school.
On Friday, after eating a cookie given to her by a female classmate, 11-year-old Diamond Brooks, a student at Columbia Middle School in Decatur, Ga., felt disoriented and had weakened vision.
The school sent Diamond to the hospital, where doctors said she had consumed marijuana. The DeKalb County School District is conducting an investigation, but in the meantime, Diamond is suspended for five days, a punishment that her father claims is unfair.

Look I understand we can’t have kids getting high. But is a suspension really necessary here? I mean honestly, getting high unknowingly seems like punishment enough. I’ll put it this way: unless you like terror, weed edibles are not fun. Can you imagine being high in the middle of elementary school? That sounds truly terrible. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. A person I knew once accidentally ate a weed brownie once, locked himself in a bathroom for three hours, that’s how unwilling he was to face the world on a weed brownie. Do you have any idea how many weed cigarettes are in a weed brownie? A lot.
Suspending this girl for a week is just kicking her while she’s down. This is the most typical school punishment of all time, just going full bull in the china shop, suspending everybody involved. Come on guys, she already got surprise edible-high, she basically just got home from a war zone. Everybody you meet’s been there. Everybody’s got a bad experience with edibles. It’s like a coming of age for kids who go to liberal arts schools in the Northeast. So enough of this rigid, ironed shirt, school justice bullshit, you know what this like. You know what she’s been through. That girl just had her first terrible edible weed experience, have a heart.
P.S. I'm not scared of weed. You're scared of weed.
