Mandatory Stranger Things 2 Finale Post: I Don't Think I Spoil Anything But I Probably Do
Stranger Things NAILS Middle School dances.
I fucking loooooooved it. I fucking looooooooooooooved it. They absolutely nailed the awkwardness and epicness of a middle school dance. There was no more exhilarating feeling than busting in with your friends, and then no more drastic PITFALL than realizing that talking to girls was hard. It did not take long to go from standing in the center of the dance floor looking forward to the night of your life, to sulking in the corner, crushing fruit punch and sugar cookies. One second you think you’re untouchable and the next second you realize that all of your plans and dreams have amounted to nothing and you are, and have always been, a coward.
Next step: if you even end up dancing with someone, you have to assume the most AWKWARD DANCE POSITION OF ALL TIME. Ladies put your hands on the gentlemen’s shoulders? Nobody puts hands on shoulders anymore! And gents put your hands on the ladies’ sides? Sides are even more awkward! Nobody likes being touched on their sides! Whoever created this dance position knew that no position in human history would be less likely to lead to a kiss. Of course, in creating this position they also created the greatest underdog battle in the history of middle school dances- and that was actually kissing anyone. If you did it- congrats, you’re a legend. If you didn’t, nobody cares- start a blog!
Great season, and terrific ending. When it comes down to it- and the show’s creators alluded to it in an interview, everybody loves a middle school dance scene. If you throw in christmas themes, a classic soundtrack, some hairspray, and a few incredible characters then go ahead and cue the fuckin’ waterworks!
